Yesterday, something happened that just a few weeks ago I thought was not possible. After the Eagles second loss to the Dallas Cowboys, I thought our playoff hopes were dead for sure. Thank God I was proven wrong.
First let’s talk about the Eagles game. They took care of business in Washington, which I, and most people, expected they would. They won 24-0 behind another good performance by Nick Foles (28/33, 221 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT). Foles was taken out of the game late with a chest injury and it was revealed today by Mike Garafolo that Foles has bruised ribs and tests showed no broken ribs and coach Doug Pederson announced Foles WILL play Sunday against the Bears (who Eagles fans will go from cheering for to cursing at in a single day). The run game was pretty solid with Adams and Smallwood both getting 10+ carries, Adams had 50 yards and Smallwood had 53. Alshon Jeffry, who has had a great past few weeks, caught 5 passes on 5 targets for 59 yards and 1 TD. Nelson Agholor went for 40 yards and 2 TDs (one from Nate Sudfeld). Surprisingly, Zach Ertz only had 3 catches for 15 yards, hopefully he will stay involved as we move into the playoffs. The Eagles offense has been stepping up recently, in the last 3 games the Eagles are averaging 29 points, through the first 14 games they averaged 22. They also only scored 30+ once in the first 14 games (Week 6 vs NYG), they have scored 30+ in 2 out of the last 3 games (30 vs LAR & 32 vs HOU). I won’t praise the defense too much for this specific game because of the opponent, but they have been playing a lot better the last few weeks. The secondary specifically has gotten better behind the great play from Avonte Maddox and Rasul Douglas. Fletcher Cox showed his dominance yesterday racking up a whopping 3 sacks. Michael Bennet also had 1 sack. This is obvious but both sides of the ball need to keep it up, the Eagles are one of the hottest teams headed into the playoffs and need to stay hot.
Now for the help we received from Da Bears. Making the playoffs is awesome, but making the playoffs because Kirk “Choke Job” Cousins once again couldn’t win in a big game. The Vikings, who have quickly made my top 3 most hated NFL teams right behind the Cowboys and Patriots, being eliminated from the playoffs made it sooo much better. All I have to say is, thanks Chicago, but next week when we come to your house we’re gonna make you wish you lost that game yesterday.
The Eagles are hot at the right time, playing their best football of the season headed into the playoffs, as Malcolm Jenkins said in the locker room “We’re not sneaking in, we’re kickin’ the motherfuckin’ door down.” So it’s time for everyone to mentally get ready and get your livers ready for another Eagles playoff run. We take on the Chicago Bears on Sunday at 4:40 ET in Chicago and I don’t have an exact score position, but I believe the Eagles WILL WIN. I am 100% confident the Eagles can pull this off with how hot they are right now, it won’t be easy but we can do it. The Eagles are 5.5 point underdogs, the biggest of the weekend, so I hope everyone still has your dog masks because it’s time to break those fuckers out once again. I couldn’t be anymore excited and confident in this team right now, I’ll leave everyone with this: GO BIRDS.
