NFL Week 2 Power Rankings

  1. Philadelphia EaglesFullSizeRender-4

Week 1 was not pretty for the defending champions. The offense struggled without Alshon Jeffrey and Carson Wentz, but they still walked away with a win over the Falcons who are considered a top team in the NFC. The Eagles defense on the other hand, had an amazing game. The front 7 was great all game, at times the corners could have been better but they were up against Julio Jones so it’s understandable. This week they visit Tampa Bay with Nick Foles, who was decent Week 1, still at QB. The Eagles will be getting LB Nigel Bradham back which is huge, and I don’t see the Bucs offense having a repeat of Week 1 against this stacked Eagles defense. I expect the Birds to pull out a win. Eagles vs Falcons Week 1 Highlights

2. Los Angeles RamsFullSizeRender-5

Everyone, including myself, couldn’t wait to see the new look, loaded Rams defense. They started off slow in the first half, but they dominated in the second half. They picked off Derek Carr 3 times, including a game icing pick six by Marcus Peters. Offensively they were also great. Jared Goff looked good and Todd Gurley was amazing, to no one’s surprise. This week they play the Cardinals and I expect an easy win. Rams vs Raiders Week 1 Highlights

3. New England PatriotsFullSizeRender-6.jpg

The Patriots in the top 3 is quite a familiar sight. Week 1 they defeated the Houston Texans, who are a solid team. Tom Brady, at 41 years old, threw for 277 yards and 3 TDs against a formidable Texans defense. Every wide receiver he had to throw to Sunday has never had a 700+ yard season. Gronk had 123 yards and 1 TD, looking great as always. Their defense also held Deshaun Watson to 176 yards and 1 TD, while also picking him off once. They have an interesting game against the Jaguars on the road this week. I picked them to lose this game, but I won’t be surprised if they take the W in Jacksonville. Patriots vs Texans Week 1 Highlights

4. Minnesota VikingsFullSizeRender-7.jpg

The league’s best defense started off extremely well last week. Harrison Smith lead the way for the defense with 8 tackles,  1 sack, 1 fumble recovery and 1 INT. They also brought Jimmy G back down to Earth, picking him off 3 times. On offense, Kirk Cousins had a very nice debut with his new squad. 244 yards and 2 TDs for Cosuins in the game. This week they take on divisional rival Green Bay Packers. The status of Aaron Rodgers is unsure, but whether he plays or not I’ll take the Vikings to move to 2-0. Vikings vs 49ers Week 1 Highlights

5. Kansas City ChiefsFullSizeRender-8.jpg

The Chiefs were one of the Week 1 surprises. Second year QB Patrick Mahomes balled out during his first start.  Mahomes went for 256 yards and 4 TDs, and showed off his strong, accurate arm plenty. Even with Mahomes’ great performance, Tyreek Hill was the star of the game. He picked up 268 total yards and 3 total TDs. The one worry about this team is their defense. The reason I have them at 5 is because their offense, as great as it looked, has even more to offer. Travis Kelce had 1 catch for 6 yards and Kareem Hunt only had 49 yards. Both of those guys will put up better numbers than that going forward. This week they take on the Steelers who are fresh off a tie with the Browns. I take the Chiefs winning this game. Chiefs vs Chargers Week 1 Highlights

So this is my top 5 headed into Week 2. Will be looking to see if there’s any changes after Monday.
