NBA Western Conference Power Rankings Going into the 2018-2019 Season

15. Sacramento Kings

14. Phoenix Suns

13. Memphis Grizzlies

12. Dallas Mavericks

11. Los Angeles Clippers

10. Portland Trail Blazers

9. Minnesota Timberwolves

8. New Orleans Pelicans

With the loss of Demarcus Cousins (snake) to the Golden State Warriors, Anthony Davis will have to do his best LeBron impersonation and carry this team. Jrue Holliday will help a lot, but the best I can give this team for now is the eighth seed.

  1. Denver Nuggets

Nikola Jokic and Gary Harris are two of the most underrated players in the NBA. I think this duo along with Paul Millsap will have a solid season, giving the Nuggets the seven seed in my preseason rankings.

  1. San Antonio Spurs

Although this team is old, they are talented and have DeMar DeRozan. Coach Pop will not let this team go down without a fight, but the dynasty is worn, and the six seed is the highest they will be this season.

  1. Utah Jazz

Donvoan Mitchell is a problem, no denying it. Mitchell is a top 5 shooting guard in the league already. Along-side him is elite rim protector Rudy Gobert, sharpshooter Joe Ingles, former star Derrick Favors, the fantastic passer Ricky Rubio, and a decent bench. The way this team plays is quite strategic, giving this team the fifth seed in my rankings.

  1.  Oklahoma City Thunder

Carmelo Anthony, the defensive black hole, has been removed from the Thunder. We now get to see two of the top 20 players in the NBA play their game together without having a third player taking too much of an offensive role. If Grant and Robertson even slightly improve their jump-shot, this team will be even better than expected.

  1.  Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James, need I say more?

  1.  Houston Rockets

The Rockets seem to be the kryptonite to the Warriors Super team. Chris Paul and James Harden are as good of a guard combo as any other in the league, including the splash bros. Clint Capela is also the best rim protector in the league, which will help with the Warriors addition of Boogie (soft dude) Cousins. The loss of Trevor Ariza is rough. The addition of Carmelo Anthony will provide great scoring OFF OF THE BENCH? (Hopefully for the Rockets hell be willing to take a step back, for their sake.)

  1. Golden State Warriors

The Super Team. 2 Former MVPs, 3 of the top 10 shooters in NBA history, a top 3 Center in the NBA, 2 of the top 10 defensive players in the league and the winners of 3 of the last 4 NBA Finals. The Golden State Warriors dynasty just seems to keep improving. The one seed, along with another championship, is basically a guarantee for the best team assembled in NBA history.
