Eagles vs Patriots Preseason (Over)Reaction

In this beautiful city of Philadelphia, we tend to overreact to some things when it comes to our sports. So last night the Eagles played the Patriots in week 2 of the preseason. The Eagles lost 37-20, I didn’t think much of it because it is preseason. However, plenty of fans and sports media personalities would disagree with me.

The reaction to the Eagles losing this game has been shocking to me. People are saying the Eagles should be ashamed of that game and already saying this season is going to be bad. The offense in particular took most of the criticism. First of all, preseason does not matter at all. Second of all, half our starters didn’t play or barely played at all. Wentz, Clement, Peters, Jeffrey and Agholor all did not play, to name a few. Ajayi and Ertz also played for a very short period of time. So how exactly are we gonna judge this Eagles offense when most of the players that make up our starting offense DID NOT PLAY? It makes absolutely no sense to me and just shows how this city can be sometimes.

Nate Sudfeld also looked pretty good. The Eagles third string QB went 22/39 with 312 yards, 3 TDs and 1 INT. Not too bad to me. Nick Foles suffered a shoulder sprain last night and I’ll be praying every day from now until week 1 of the season that he will be good to go, in case Carson is not. Shelton Gibson also played pretty solid: 5 receptions, 90 yards and 1 TD.

Moral of the story here is that preseason does not mean a thing. And being disappointed in the Eagles offense is ridiculous considering who did not play. I’ll be willing to talk about the Eagles play once the regular season starts and it actually matters.
