The Eagles took on the Pittsburgh Steelers last night in their first game of the preseason. The standout of the game on the offensive side for the Eagles was TE Dallas Goedert, the second round pick from South Dakota State caught four passes for 66 yards including a 15-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Although he did drop a wide open pass and miss a few blocks Goedert is going to be a problem for defenses in the red zone, his ability to stay open when plays break down is going to help the Eagles extend drives and move the ball down the field. Goedert is best compared to another TE on the Eagles, Zach Ertz both players are 6’5” pass catching TE that dominates defenders in the red zone, both need to work on the blocking aspect but overall Goedert was impressive in his first appearance for the Eagles. He should be able to contribute for the Eagles throughout the year.
