Guess what motherfuckers, it’s happening. After an almost year long hiatus from fighting, and not having fought in the UFC since dismantling Philadelphia’s own Eddie Alvarez, the Irishman known as “Mystic Mac” is set to take on “The Eagle” Khabib Nurmagomedov in a Lightweight bout in Vegas at T-Mobile Arena, October 6th. UFC 229 will feature two of the pound-for-pound most voracious fighters the UFC has ever seen, setting the stage for perhaps the largest pay-per-view numbers accumulated in the history of mixed martial arts.

TALE OF THE TAPE:
The Russian, Nurmagomedov (26-0-0), has dominated the UFC’s Lightweight division since 2012 with only just recently winning a title (which he currently holds). Khabib is a year younger than the fiery McGregor (21-3-0) at 29 and only holds a 1” height advantage. Conor also holds a 4” reach advantage over Khabib (74”-70”).

THE VERDICT:
I truly could not tell you what can happen in this matchup. McGregor has much more experience in big title fights and has devastating striking ability. However he just may not be as hungry as Khabib after securing the bag following the Mayweather fight last August. Nevertheless, Mystic Mac’s left hand and Khabib’s ability as a wrestler will make things interesting. Let’s just hope nothing gets thrown this time around.
