The Phillies today announced they’re granting veteran utility-man Adam Rosales his unconditional release.
Rosales, 34, hasn’t had a great spring at the plate for the Phils hitting just .237 with 1 HR and 2 RBIs in 42 plate appearances.
With INF Ryan Flaherty and now Rosales being released, the Phillies bench battle is now down to Jesmuel Valentin, Pedro Florimon and Roman Quinn competing for just two jobs should the Phils start the season with a 4-man bench.
The Phillies regular season opens up March 29th against the NL East rival Braves in Atlanta. Manager Gabe Kapler announced earlier this month that Aaron Nola will be the clubs opening day starter.
